Sleepy Beans Baby Bean Bag User guide

Congratulations on purchasing a Sleepy Beans Baby Bean Bag!

Your package will include:

  • 1 x Removable Sleepy Beans bean bag top with three point safety harness suitable for babies

  • 1 x Removable Sleepy Beans bean bag top suitable for toddlers

  • 1 x Sleepy Beans waterproof bean bag base with safety zipper

  • 1 x Removable inner liner with safety zipper

  • User Guide and Warranty Card

Please note that baby bean bags should not be used in place of a cot or bassinet. Baby bean bag use should be supervised at all times. Please do not allow older children to use bean bags as toys. Bean bags are not toys.

When using your bean bag for your baby you must ensure that the removable Sleepy Beans bean bag top with three point safety harness is properly zipped onto the bean bag. Do not place your baby onto the bean bag without the safety harness being properly fastened and adjusted to your baby’s size. As every child is different, it is up to you as to when you decide to change from the Sleepy Beans bean bag top with three point safety harness to the toddler top. We do recommend though, that your child be at an age where they are able to walk or at least stand by themselves, before you swap the tops over. All Sleepy Beans baby bean bags are designed to hold a maximum of 30kg.

When using your Sleepy Beans baby bean bag please ensure it is placed on a flat surface. Do not carry your Sleepy Beans baby bean bag with your baby or child on it. Do not place your baby or child face down on the bean bag.

Always ensure your bean bag is well away from:

  • Electrical points or outlets

  • Electrical appliances

  • Fires and heaters

  • Stairs and ramps

  • Walkways and high traffic areas

  • Sharp objects

If your bean bag or inner liner becomes damaged or is punctured discontinue use immediately.

All Sleepy Beans baby bean bags meet the mandatory safety standards set by the ACCC (Australian Competition and Consumer Commission).

  • All openings to the bean bag and inner liner are fitted with a child-resistant slide fastener or safety zipper. This can only be opened by inserting a paper clip into the zipper mechanism.

  • Both the bean bag base and inner liner have clear warning labels outlining the danger of suffocation from inhaling the bean filling. Do not remove these labels.

Filling Instructions

All Sleepy Beans baby bean bags come with an inner liner. This is where the beans are held. Do not fill the bean bag base with the beans. We recommend filling your bean bag’s inner liner in a clean, dry bathtub. This makes it easier to catch any beans that may fall. Vacuuming spilled beans is the most effective and fastest way to clean up any beans that did not make it into your bean bag’s inner liner. Although filling your bean bag can be done by just one person, it is a lot easier if two people work together.

  1. Using a paper clip, unzip the safety zipper on the inner liner.

  2. Using scissors cut the corner off your purchased bag of beans or filling. Do not cut the whole top off the bag.

  3. Carefully pour the beans into the inner liner. We recommend using about 60-70 litres of beans or about two thirds of a 100 litre bag of beans. Once the inner liner has been filled to the desired amount, close the zipper and remove the paper clip.

  4. Insert the inner liner into the bean bag base (make sure it is in the right way) and using the same paper clip, close the zipper. Remove and discard the paper clip.

Bean bags can be manipulated and moulded to suit, so if the bean bag seems too firm, remove some beans. However, if the bean bag seems to be providing inadequate support, then fill it a little more. Always store any left over beans out of reach of children.

Caring for your bean bag

Here at Sleepy Beans we understand that babies can be messy, especially when they become toddlers. That is why we have designed all of our bean bag tops to be fully machine washable. We do recommend though, that when doing this you place your removable bean bag top into a delicates bag. Only wash on a gentle cycle, using cold water and mild detergent. Do not iron or tumble dry removable tops. Simply lay them flat to dry and out of direct sunlight.

The base can be wiped down with a damp cloth, only using mild detergent on stubborn stains. Do not put your bean bag base in the washing machine.

Warranty

Sleepy Beans offers a 12 month warranty from date of purchase. A receipt or proof of purchase must be provided with the returned product, along with all accessories, manuals or user guides and original packaging where possible. Warranty will be void if the product has been misused or if the product has been modified in any way, including removing any safety warnings.
